Jason Greene Named Top Young Pharmacist

NASHVILLE - Jason M. Greene,Pharm.D., of Murfreesboro, was selected as Tennessee's "DistinguishedYoung Pharmacist" in recognition of practice of excellence andoutstanding contributions to pharmacy and the community.
The presentation was made on July 24 during an awards ceremony helpduring the 117th annual convention of the Tennessee PharmacistsAssociation in Memphis.
Greene obtained his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University ofTennessee College of Pharmacy in 1998. Upon graduating, hereturned to Murfreesboro to manage the Church Street pharmacy locationof Reeves-Sain Drug Store. His responsibilities includedoversight for all compounding, immunizations and other clinicalprograms offered.
Besides becoming very successful in his career of pharmacy, Greene isvery involved in the community and in his church. He is a memberof the Northside Baptist Church, a member of the Commonwealth Societyat Middle Tennessee Medical Center, a graduate of Leadership Rutherfordand is on the board of advisors for MTSU's Adult Health and Developmentprogram.
Greene is a preceptor for the Tennessee Technology Center's CertifiedTechnician School and for the University of Tennessee College ofPharmacy. He is a member and past president of the RutherfordCounty Pharmacists Association, the American Pharmacists Association(AphA), and recently participated in the AphA's Media Advisor Programin Washington, D.C.
The Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award was created in 1987 toencourage new pharmacists to become involved in association activitiesand civic projects. It is awarded to only one pharmacist in eachstate annually and is sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual Companies.
The Tennessee Pharmacists Association, a professional organization ofmore than 2,000 pharmacists from across the state, promotes thedelivery of quality pharmaceutical care as a means of enhancing theknowledge, ethics and skills of pharmacists as well as protecting andenhancing public health.
