Soda Shoppe … a little history

“What Our Milkshakes Can’t Cure, Our Pharmacy Can!”

Soda ShoppeLet’s start out with a little history, shall we? The soda fountain that has become part of the American imagination really began at the turn of the 20th century and continued until it completely collapsed in the 1970’s. While there were certain purveyors of sodas and ice cream previously, it was the marriage of the drugstore and soda fountain of the early 1900’s that gave birth to the American soda fountain.

So, in 1989, Richard Reeves and Ron Powell, (Reeves-Powell) had an idea to build an old fashioned soda shop and bring this “marriage” back to the drug store and to Murfreesboro. Now, some 18 years later, and with two different owners, Shane Reeves and Rick Sain, the soda fountain concept, history, and nostalgia continue right here at the Reeves-Sain Drug Store with its very own Soda Shoppe!

Made fresh daily in our very own kitchen, Reeves-Sain specializes in old fashioned treats, just the way you like them made. Our sandwiches are available with our famous chicken salad, our terrific tuna salad, the perfect pimiento cheese, and egg salad. Our fresh, delicious cakes include everything from our carrot cake to strawberry cake. And, don’t forget our award-winning milkshakes!
