The Fitting Experience
Before surgery you can be fitted a camisole and lightweight breast form.
12 weeks after surgery, a woman should be fitted for a permanent silicone breast form.
A certified fitter will measure and educate you on the products.
Our fitting room is private and comfortable.

Medicare and Insurance coverage
Many private insurance companies pay for breast prosthesis and bras. Medicare allows one silicone breast prosthesis form every two years based on medical necessity. Six mastectomy bras every year are usually allowed through Medicare.

One lightweight form every 6 months is normally covered by Medicare.

Important Facts about wearing breast forms
It is important to wear a weighted breast form to restore a body’s natural balance and help prevent the development of:
» Spinal Curvature
» Neck and Back Pain
» Shoulder Drop

Wearing a breast form does not restrict a woman’s activities in any way.
Breast forms are easy to care for after each use.
» Simply clean with warm water and mild soap or Tru Kleen
» Avoid sharp objects such as pins, corsages, etc.
» Keep breast form in the cradle at night to maintain its shape

Lymphedema Awareness
Women who have undergone breast cancer surgery are at risk for a disease called Lymphedema, an accumulation of fluid in the arm or surgical side.

Lymphedema Prevention and Maintenance
» Wear gloves when doing housework, gardening, or other chores to provide protection from bacteria, should a lesion occur.
» No blood drawing, injections or blood pressure checks in the are on the surgical side.
» Avoid trimming the cuticles of the hand on the affected side.
» Use an electric razor instead of a blade to shave the underarm area.
» Avoid heavy lifting and rigorous repetitive movements.
» Avoid tight jewelry around affected fingers or arms.
» Maintain an ideal weight and eat a low salt diet.
» Wearing a compression sleeve as a preventative measure in airplanes or at high altitudes.
